Symphony No. 1. Level: Intermediate to Experienced Spinner. A short, intense, moderately difficult spin, that includes a warmup, a race that’s “bang, out of the gate”, a climb, some sprints, and a final stage that’s running-with-resistance endurance test. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 2. Level: Intermediate to Experienced Spinner. A 35 minute, intense, moderate -difficult spin that also includes a warmup, an intense race at high cadence, a severe climb at low cadence and high resistance, moderate sprints, and a final stage that is a sprint to the finish or a run against a full headwind. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 3 (Eroica) Level: Experienced to Advanced. A 52-minute challenge, the “Eroica” (Heroic) portrait of Napoleon. This is a ride with Napoleon, right out of the gate, a fast run sweeping through Europe, then excruciating climb up a burial hill, followed by the “regimental” races, and lastly, a final stage so varied as to be beyond description, culminated by a sprint with resistance, taking the HR to MAXIMUM. Symphony No. 4 Level: Experienced. A 35 minute ride that comes down from the peaks of No. 3. Includes a Warmup, followed by an early morning run on the flats, then a climb in the hills, some sprints, and a fast dash with the breeze at your back at VERY high cadence. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 5 Level: Very Experienced to Advanced. An overall challenge that becomes very personal. What you overcome with this are the fears in yourself “can I keep this pace at this level of resistance for this long?,” with relief offered by the quiet dignity of a climb alone, then on to a test facing that which you fear most, and lastly then overcoming it, by spinning right into it and over it, and then on to triumph. Glorious and exhausting. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 6 (Pastorale) Level: Experienced to Advanced. You wouldn’t expect the “Pastoral” or “nature” symphony to be so damn hard. Consistently high cadences with resistance throughout make this an endurance challenge, from the beginning race into the countryside, to the ride in the sandy bottom of a swiftly flowing brook, to a village May Day fest with drinking and dancing, interrupted by a terrible thunderstorm (spinning right into the teeth of it), to the clearing skies, up and up running into the green hills, past the shepherds gathering their flocks to get one last glimpse of the setting sun. Awesome. (At the end you will be depleted) For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 7 Level: Very Experienced to Advanced. Fasten your seatbelt for this one, perhaps the greatest spinning challenge among the Nine. After a warmup, a run with moderate-heavy resistance, then a solemn but beautiful climb, followed by the sprints ... and then a “running up the hill with resistance” challenge and a triumphant push to the finish line. Pure white energy Wow. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 8 Level: Experienced. Short, but it ain’t easy. Taking a half-step back from No. 7, there is no real climb in this one, with Stage I running with resistance, and everything else light and quick going away. Pure fun. For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
Symphony No. 9 (Choral) Level: Experienced. This will be the first attempt at the mighty, hour-long Choral Symphony. We'll explore other-worldly and inner-worldly landscapes in the first three stages. And in the last stage, we'll try for a synchronized, communal run for universal brotherhood, per Beethoven's invitation. Freude! For a detailed profile of the spin, Click Here
